Mara James is the driving force behind the HUGS for Life Healing Center. When Mara experienced extreme challenges with her mental health, she sought out ways to heal that complemented her psychiatric and psychological treatments. She struggled to find experienced healers and eventually found a team of healers through word of mouth.  With such a positive outcome and transformation, Mara embarked on a journey to bring approved healers to others suffering with mental health challenges.

To support people on their healing journeys, Mara founded a subsidiary of ELF called the HUGS for Life Healing Center where healers apply to become approved HUGS healers. HUGS provides a safe place for clients  to find alternative healing modalities and for clinicians to refer their patients to.

In short, Mara created an organization that could have helped her during her own mental health crisis and aided in her healing journey.

Today, HUGS provides a worldwide network of approved holistic healers.  Our healers have undergone a detailed approval process that includes a background check. These healers cover areas of alternative practices from Reiki to Hypnotherapy to Medical Intuition.
